Teachable Tuesday -How to Store Your Paper Products

When the season changes so does your home or work place temperature, this change can affect your printer paper as well. Paper can absorb or lose moisture, depending on the atmosphere it is exposed to.

Here's a few tips for storing paper....

1. Paper should be stored at a temperature of 68°F - 75°F. Also, store out of direct sunlight, this can impact the temperature and color of the paper.

2. Keep the paper in the wrapper it came in until the time to use. Why you ask... the paper wrapper has a lining on the inside to prevent moisture from coming in or out. Once paper is opened the barrier is broken. the moisture content of the paper will begin to change.

3. If you are not using the whole ream of paper, tape or reseal the wrapper.

4. If paper has been left open for a period of time, use sheets from the center of the package.

5. Paper that has lost moisture streaks, smudges, warps, gets wavy and cause paper jam when printing.

6. Before using paper that has been stored or shipped grom a different climate allow the paper acclimate for at least 24 hours before using to avoid paper shock. Paper shock will affect printing.

7. Store paper on a flat surface, only stack 3-4 reams of paper on top of each other. Do not store paper on uneven surfaces, like the top of the printer this can cause the paper to warp.

8. Keep paper away from doors, windows, and vents. Avoid storing paper near heating and air conditioning vents, or near windows and doors that are used frequently. This could cause damage to the paper.

9. Three finger rule: do not purchase more paper than you can use in three months.

10. If you don't have a place to store your paper, purchase shelving or containers to protect your investment from the environment.

As always, I'm just trying to help someone.

P.S. Some of this information can be applied to paper pads, lamination, chipboard and cardstock.

5 Things You Can Do During The COVID19 Lock-Down

Hello Crushers,

I hope all has been well with you all. This has been a rough week for many of you including myself. I've had to adjust my work life, home life and to be honest my entire life.

I had things planned for the week, however COVID19 was not part of the plan. So I adjusted my week and created a plan, well it's really not a plan it's 5 things I accomplished during my lock-down.

I know it might be difficult having to adjust your life but sometimes adjustment is necessary. Sometimes when you adjust you get to focus on the small things that are sometimes overlooked.

Some things I got done this past week had been overlooked or needed adjusting but I never took the time to do it.  I'm sharing with you the things I accomplished in my 5 Things You Can Do During The COVID19 Lock-down, hopefully it can help you close out the noise and focus on other things that get overlooked during our normally routines.

We All Have Something To Say

I believe we all have something to say, I also believe it’s how you say it that determine the impact. We can write and blog about so many things but are we doing it to impact others. We have the ability to open up the eyes and minds of many. I challenge you to do just that, through your written words. For the mother who has no hope, introduce her to your hope, for the daughter that has fears of failure, introduce her to your accomplishments, for the friend that has gotten lost along the way, introduce her to your journey.

Let’s go out and do what we do best, speak through our written words, because we all have something to say.
